Resume Character Counter
Match each resume field's character limit with a real-time count of characters (with/without spaces) and how many remain.
Most job sites use the with-spaces basis. Verify once more in the actual input box before submitting.
How do I hit the character limit?
Enter a limit or pick a common preset (300, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000), and the tool shows remaining characters and usage against the with-spaces count in real time. Most job sites use the with-spaces basis, but it varies by posting, so the without-spaces count is shown too.
When to use it
- Motivation, 500 chars: set the limit to 500 and trim sentences while watching the remaining count.
- Background, 1,000 chars: check progress on a field that needs a minimum length.
- Competency statements: paste each field one by one to confirm it fits the limit.
- Applying to many roles: switch between different limits quickly with presets.
Things to note
- Job sites (Saramin, JobKorea, etc.) may differ on the with/without-spaces basis and their own counters, so re-check in the actual input box before final submission.
- Some forms count line breaks and spaces, so if remaining characters are tight, leave a margin on the with-spaces basis.
- Combined emoji and special characters may count differently depending on the system.
Your in-progress resume text is counted only in your browser and is never sent to or stored on a server. You can safely paste an unsubmitted draft to fit the limit.

Do resumes count with or without spaces?
Most job sites count limits with spaces. It can vary by company and form, so this tool shows both values. If the posting doesn't specify, matching the with-spaces basis is safest.
What happens if I exceed the limit?
Remaining characters go negative and usage passes 100%, shown as an over-limit state. Real application fields often truncate or block submission, so trim within the limit before submitting.
Is my resume text stored?
No. Counting happens entirely in your browser and your text is never sent to or stored on a server. It clears on reload, so keep the original in a separate document.
Can I use it for byte-limited forms?
This tool also shows UTF-8 bytes. If a byte basis (especially EUC-KR) matters for a form, use the Korean Byte Calculator alongside it.
